December Brew Club Meeting

It was hot in the Brew Barn on Thursday night for December’s meeting.

Paul from Sleepy Creek Brewery was a little bit late after rescuing a bloke who after a mechanical failure overheated his car coming down the Clyde Mountain and ended up blocking his driveway. Once the bloke was sorted and his dogs were watered all was well and he joined us for some nibbles and met a couple of keen all grain brewers who attended their first meeting. Below is the recipe for anyone who wants to try replicate it.

It went down a treat and gets 2 thumbs up from us at the Brew Barn, anyone wanting to try his recipe it is below. Its a riff on a recipe from the Brew father App.


Here are recipe/ notes on the cream ale.

5 kg Pilsner malt,
500g wheat,
60 min mash 66 degrees
20 L spring water,
5 L sparge 45 min,
25 g centennial added during sparge (9.7 %aa), was 22 L after sparge- 5 litre added preboil to bring up to 27 L.

30 l total in recipe. 60 min boil

whirlfloc and 25 g Amarillo (8.5%aa) added at last 15 minutes.
Hot cubed to cool added to fermenter the next day with Us 05 yeast. 25 .5 L post boil

Bottling
Original gravity 1.050 final 1.008
So 5.5% ABV
6% ABV with carb drops 4L keg, 17 grolsch, 10 pet, 2 cooper 750ml, 2 500ml little creatures
